On Thursday, December 3, 2020, the Supreme Court in the state of Wisconsin refused to hear a lawsuit filed by the outgoing US President Donald Trump's campaign to challenge the results of the presidential elections that were held on the third of last November in the state, in the latest episode in a series Legal battles lost by the campaign.
Trump's team had filed the lawsuit challenging the election results in Wisconsin. Seeking to annul the 221,323 votes cast by means other than going to the polls, directly to the state Supreme Court, while Trump still insists on not admitting his election loss.
Biden excelled
US President-elect Joe Biden won the majority of votes in Wisconsin, beating Trump by nearly 200,000 votes, according to the state's Election Commission, which approved Biden's victory on Monday.
Trump refuses to accept the election result and continues to challenge it in the courts, but to no avail. He alleges, without providing evidence, that the election was marred by widespread fraud.
In its refusal to hear the lawsuit, the Wisconsin Supreme Court said its petitioners could file it in a lower court. It remains unclear if the Trump campaign will do so.
Trump's insistence
In the same context, the outgoing US President continued to question the results of the presidential elections that were won by his Democratic rival, Joe Biden.
The American (official) Al-Hurra TV quoted Trump as saying that "there is evidence of fraud in the presidential elections."
He added that the election results "changed in the last moments."
This came in conjunction with the presentation of a video clip to the Senate hearing committee for the state of Georgia, showing the counting of some votes without supervision, during the night hours, as Trump posted on his Twitter page.
However, the results of the recount demanded by the Trump campaign, which was carried out manually, showed that Biden maintained his lead over his rival Donald Trump.
It is worth noting that Biden won after garnering 306 votes in the electoral college, compared to 232 votes for Trump, surpassing the required number of electoral college votes, which is at least 270 votes.
