Some officials, including two women, rushed to flee the ship of the outgoing US President Donald Trump, after the events of the congressional storming sparked calls for the removal of Trump, who, according to federal statements, may face investigations into his responsibility in fueling violence and chaos in the precedent of the hot Wednesday night in Washington. .

Resignations at the highest levels

US Transportation Secretary Eileen Chow was the first to announce her resignation from Trump's ministerial staff, the day after Trump supporters stormed the Capitol, followed by Education Secretary Betsy DeVos.

"Today I announce my resignation from my position as Minister of Transportation," Zhao said in a statement posted on her Twitter account, stressing that she took this step because what happened at the Capitol was "a shocking and completely avoidable event," and has bothered her so much that she cannot ignore it.

Chow is the wife of Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell.

While Minister DeVos said in a letter sent to Trump, a copy of which was received by a number of American media, "It is undeniable that your speech had an impact on the situation, and this was a turning point for me."

In addition, Reuters announced the resignation of four senior advisers in the US National Security Council, on Friday, January 8th, against the background of the storming of supporters of President Donald Trump in Congress.

Reuters reported, citing a senior administration official and a person familiar with the matter, that the collective resignations came as part of a growing series of resignations of Trump aides.

According to the agency, the four officials are: Irene Walsh, Senior Director for African Affairs, Mark Vandoroff, Senior Director for Defense Policy, Anthony Ruggiero, Senior Director of Weapons of Mass Destruction, and Rob Greenway, Senior Director for the Middle East and North Africa.

The resignation of the police chief and investigations may reach Trump

For his part, US Congress Police Chief Stephen Sundt resigned the day after supporters of outgoing President Donald Trump stormed the building, hours after US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called for the captain of the Congress police to step down.

This comes at a time when Acting Federal Attorney General for Washington, DC, Michael Sherwin said that the investigations launched into the storming operation will also include Trump, amid national security concerns after materials were stolen from Congressional offices.

Sharwin indicated that the investigations include not only the people who stormed the building, but also those who helped them or those who played a role in that, according to what the American " washington post " reported.

For his part, the FBI asked the general public to provide it with any information that helps identify the rioters who stormed the Congress building, and added in a statement that it is interested in obtaining any video or pictures documenting the chaos.

In this context, the Justice Department said that there are national security concerns after materials were stolen from offices in the Congress building, including the office of Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

It also quoted "CNN" ( Cnn ) officials at the Justice Department that the federal security agencies will announce new arrests against the backdrop of breaking into supporters of the outgoing president, Donald Trump Congress.

For its part, Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser called for Trump to be held accountable for "the unprecedented terrorist attack on American democracy."

She added during a press conference that it is imperative not to underestimate the damage that Trump could inflict on American democracy during the two remaining weeks in the White House, as she described.

Pence opposes impeachment of Trump

And while Democrats parliamentarians were quick to ask Vice President Mike Pence to vote to remove Trump under the 25th amendment to the Constitution, which allows the vice president and the majority of government members to dismiss the president if they find that he is "unable to bear the burdens of office."

But the British newspaper " The Independent " reported that Pence opposes the use of the twenty-fifth amendment to the constitution to force Trump to step down from his post, despite the demands of Democrats and some Republicans.

While Pence did not speak publicly about the possibility of resorting to this amendment, which was not previously used in the history of the United States, the newspaper quoted a source close to Pence as saying that the vice president opposes this radical step.

The newspaper said that Pence's position is supported by many ministers whose support will be necessary to implement the Twenty-Fifth Amendment, noting that these officials "believe that such a measure would increase the current chaos in Washington" rather than solve it.

While the US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi called for Trump to step down, considering the Republican billionaire "a very dangerous person who should not continue in his position," American lawmakers called on members of the Trump administration and White House officials to remain in their posts to ensure a stable end to the presidential term, after A number of administration officials announced their resignation in protest against the storming of supporters of the outgoing President's term in the Capitol building.

Building a wall around the Congress

Meanwhile, the construction of the iron fence that US Secretary of the Army Ryan McCarthy announced would be raised in the vicinity of the Congress building, a day after it was stormed by pro-Trump demonstrators.

According to the American newspaper " NEWSWEEK ", the fence will be 7 feet high, so difficult to climb, and to remain in place for the next 30 days, that is, until after the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden.

Reinforcements and concerns

Meanwhile, the Pentagon announced that it will send a force of 6,200 National Guard members from 6 states to Washington, DC, to support the Capitol Police and other security services.

The ministry said, in a statement, that Acting Defense Minister Christopher Miller had officially signed an order to send a force of 6,200 from the National Guard to Washington, to continue there for up to 30 days, according to the "Associated Press."

She added that the National Guard members coming from Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland "will help secure the Capitol building and the surrounding area during Biden's inauguration on January 20."

The bloody events in Washington, Wednesday, resulted in the killing of 4 people, including a woman who was among the demonstrators, and was shot dead by police.
